Will help revitalize the image of Linea sedan.

Last month, Fiat introduced the Abarth brand to India by launching the Abarth 595 Competizione. It is now considering spinning an Abarth Linea variant, reports Autocar India.

A stiffer and lower version of the Linea T-Jet's chassis would be used by the speculated Abarth variant.

The next Abarth product is the Punto Abarth that will launch in the festive season, and it will be followed by the Avventura Abarth. If the performance variant of the Linea is indeed considered, it will be a shot in the arm for the sedan – that is witnessing dwindling sales – as it will act as an image makeover.

Changes to the exterior are expected to be in the form of revised alloys, badges and body decals. Apart from cosmetic updates some mechanical changes like stiffer suspension, lower ride height and disc brakes at all four corners are likely.

The engine powering the Linea will be the 1.4-liter T-Jet engine that will be under the hood of the Abarth Punto as well. There are reports that in the Punto Abarth, this unit generates 143 bhp and 211.52 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed gearbox, which could be transplanted into the Linea Abarth.
