Renault's hot hatch might come with a hybrid powertrain.

Renault will be unveiling the fourth generation Megane hatchback at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. However, its sporty RS version is not expected for another year. Based on the hatchback, X-Tomi Design has rendered the 2017 Renault Megane RS.

2017 Renault Megane RS Rendering
The Megane RS' competitors, the VW Golf and Peugeot 308, are going hybrid.

The render shows a slight modifications made to the grille, front bumpers, new alloy wheels and a lower ground clearance.

There is not much information on the interior or features but it is expected to come equipped with the 7-inch R-Link infotainment system with navigation, Renault Sport fabric seats and rear parking sensors.

It is rumoured that the new Megane RS will be getting a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine working in conjunction with a hybrid system. The resultant combined output is expected to be around 300 bhp, that is around 30 bhp more than the current generation.

2016 Renault Megane interior leaked
The interior would largely have the same components as the regular Megane.

The hybrid system is a strong possibility as there are already some models in the hot hatch segment that have received this technology. Volkswagen’s Golf GTE is a hybrid and spy pics have also emerged of the Peugeot 308 Hybrid-R undergoing test runs.
