Launched in India earlier in the February, the vehicle gets a sportier bumper design with chrome bezels for the fog lamps, updated headlamp cluster with smoked innards flanking the chrome grille, power folding ORVMs with turn indicators, and a new alloy wheel design.

Inside, it comes with a new fabric upholstery with faux wood trim, accessory socket at the front and rear, and multifunction steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls. Higher variants will get push button start, reverse parking sensors, and remote bootlid opener.

Under the hood, the 2015 Maruti Dzire will continue offering the 1.3-litre DDiS (Fiat) diesel engine with 75 PS at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm; and a 1.2-litre K-series VVT petrol unit delivering  84.3 PS at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm (lower power and higher torque than the outgoing model). A 5-speed manual gearbox comes as standard in both variants.

In India, the Maruti Dzire diesel is one the most fuel efficient sedans available, with a fuel economy of 26.59 km/l for the diesel variant (13 percent improvement over the previous model), and 20.85 km/l for the petrol model (9 percent improvement over the previous model). Both figures are ARAI certified.

The improvement in fuel efficiency is due to the increased compression ratio in the petrol engine, while the diesel motor is upgraded with an advanced thermal management system, low friction engine oil, and improved fuel injection system, says the company.
