Launches during the festival season.

Renault’s upcoming Kwid has been spied testing several times but this picture from a Motoroids reader hints at how the base variant would look like. This variant will be the entry-level offering priced at about INR 3 lakhs, when it launches during the festival season.

The base variant is seen without body coloured bumper and foglight.

The model has all the makings of a base variant such as unpainted bumpers, side mirrors, door handles and the complete absence of chrome embellishments as well as the side body cladding.

The Kwid is based on Renault-Nissan’s modular CMF-A platform, measuring 3.68 meters long, 1.58 meters wide; having a ground clearance of 180 mm which is high for a small car like this.

The side misses out on the blackened B-Pillar, body cladding on the door and running board, wheel caps and gets a low cost mirror.

Interiors (of the top-end variant) are expected to be quite well equipped for this price range with features such as the segment-first 7-inch touchscreen Media-Nav infotainment system and an all-digital instrument cluster.

Power will be derived from an 800 cc, three-cylinder DOHC engine churning out 57 bhp coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission equipped with low-gear ratios for better drivability. At a later stage Renault is expected to come out with a more powerful 1.0-liter engine and an AMT with a rotary gear shifter.
