Jeep restarts testing of its first 2 launches.

A report on Motorbeam suggests that Fiat India is putting the Jeep project in the fast track, with test mules of two models spied in a highway in Maharashtra. The Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are seen in the images with no camouflage whatsoever.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited front three quarter spied
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited spied here comes with a 2.8-liter diesel engine that produces a healthy 197 HP and 460 Nm of peak torque.

The impending launch of the Jeep brand in India was put off after much speculation early in 2014. The company had even finalised the number of dealerships till the delay was reported. The rumour mills were set running once again when Fiat recently announced a Rs 1,774 crore investment in India at the company's joint venture plant with Tata Motors in Ranjangaon.

With start of production at the facility slated in 2017, Fiat had confirmed to IAB that the launch of the Jeep lineup will take place in 2015 through the CBU route.

Jeep Grand Cherokee rear spied
The Jeep Grand Cherokee, when launched, will provide Fiat India with the arsenal to take on the established German premium SUV contenders.

The Jeep Wrangler sports a 3.6-liter V6 engine while the Wrangler Unlimited, a 4-door version, comes with a 2.8-liter diesel motor. The Grand Cherokee can also be had with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine.
