The fourth-generation Prius, set to be launched on September 8th, will reportedly have a mileage of over 30 km/l.

The Prius, confirmed for its debut on September 8th, gets projector headlamps on its facade which is entirely influenced by the Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Vehicle that made its debut late in 2014. The two-stage grille sees the Toyota logo embedded between a slit and another slot for the airdams. The Prius' now-characteristic sloped roofline has been retained, and its B- and C-pillars blackened.

10-spoke alloy wheels and a beefed up shoulder line can also be spotted on the spied units. The 2016 Prius is expected to get an updated version of the company's Hybrid Synergy Drive system which will, according to reports, also feature a bigger 1.8-liter petrol engine, with a higher efficiency.

Design inspiration for the 2016 Prius seems to come largely from the Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicle.

This engine is said to produce a healthy 150 hp and will be mated to two electric motors via a CVT gearbox. A pure-electric range of 30 miles (roughly 48 km) is also being suggested, along with a mileage that crosses the 30 km/l mark.
