The new Yamaha MT-03/MT-320 is set to make its international debut this year, and its Indian premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The MT-03 or the MT-320 will feature a design that is similar to the Yamaha R3, sans the fairing, making it visually similar to the R25-based Yamaha MT-25 that had made its debut in Indonesia last month. The bike's mechanicals, including the engine, suspension, brakes, instrument panel etc. will be shared with the Yamaha R3.

The naked version of the Yamaha R3 will carry over the mechanicals from the upcoming sportsbike.

The to-be-launched Yamaha R3, which will be introduced in India via CKD kits from Yamaha's Indonesian plant, will feature a twin-cylinder 321 cc engine that develops 42 PS and peak torque of 29.6 Nm. Paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, the engine will stand out in the Indian market as a twin-cylinder motor, as its closest competition, offerings from KTM and Bajaj, all feature single-cylinder engines.

The MT-03/MT-320 will be powered by the same engine, although it will be a tad lighter after losing the fairing and the extras that come with it.
