The Kite platform (Indica platform) will also spawn a sub-4m sedan.

Latest reports indicate that the Kite hatchback will launch this calendar year, replacing the Indica in the private passenger vehicle market. However, the Indica (and Indigo eCS) will continue to be sold in the commercial market even after the introductions of the Kite and the Kite-based compact sedan.

Based on a re-engineered Indica platform, the Kite will be positioned beneath the Tata Bolt, and will target the likes of the Maruti Celerio, Hyundai i10 and the Chevrolet Beat. It is expected to see a fresh, all-new design from Tata Motors, with spyshots having shown bug-shaped headlight enclosures, a honeycomb grille structure, and large windows.

The Kite is reported to be powered only by three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.

The Kite will also introduce new engines for the Indian car maker. The petrol engine is expected to be a three-cylinder 1.2-liter unit, while the diesel motor will also be a three-cylinder, displacing 1.05-liters reportedly. Transmission choices will include manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT), though certain reports also pointed out towards an e-clutch system, wherein the driver can access the first gear without using the clutch.
