Bookings underway unofficially.

Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Robin Jose, snapped at least 4 units of the Hyundai Creta at a dealer stockyard recently. HMIL (Hyundai Motor India Ltd.) has started dispatching the compact SUV to its dealers, ahead of its market launch scheduled for July 21, 2015.

The SX (O) variant of the Hyundai Creta is easily identified by its 17-inch diamond-cut alloys.

Two variants of the Creta are seen in these spyshots - SX and SX (O). The top-end SX (O) is identified easily thanks to its 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the regular SX is shod with 16-inch alloy wheels. Also, the SX (O) is exclusive to the 1.6-liter diesel variant, which develops 128 PS, and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed automatic gearbox will be offered only on the SX+ model.

Other engines announced for the Creta include a 1.4-liter CRDi diesel and a 1.6-liter Dual VTVT petrol, both paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. HMIL is yet to give out the fuel efficiency figures for these engines.

The SX+ variant of the Creta will also be available with a 6AT.

All variants of the Creta will offer a front-wheel drive layout. HMIL officials told Indian Autos Blog that the car maker is seriously considering an AWD variant, however, the current focus is only for the FWD model.

HMIL's Chennai plant will also export the Creta to overseas markets, the car maker confirmed at the preview of the Creta in Chennai last month.
