Will be manufactured in Indonesia initially.

According to reports on Indonesian websites, the Yamaha MT 25, the naked sibling of the famed Yamaha YZF-R25, will be revealed in the archipelago on June 6, 2015. Yamaha has posted a video on its YouTube channel inviting its fans to participate in a biker street night party titled 'NakedRevolution', which is where the MT 25 will be revealed.

The MT 25 was leaked in spyshots last month, and it was evident that it shared plenty of parts with the R25. Starting with the engine, the parallel-twin 250 cc unit - which makes 36 PS and 22.6 Nm of torque on the R25 - is paired to a 6-speed transmission.

Compared to the R25, Yamaha's engineers have reportedly tweaked the MT 25's seating position and handlebar for a more upright riding stance. However, other design aspects such as the webbed alloy wheels, the stubby exhaust, the instrument cluster and the chiseled tank are carried over from the R25.

Like the R25, PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) will start manufacturing the MT 25 from the second half of this year. It remains to be seen if YIMM exports the motorcycle to neighboring markets though. Meanwhile, Yamaha India is thinking on launching the R25 or the larger R3 this year, but has not confirmed plans for either motorcycle.
