Internally codenamed 'Type 949'.

Ahead of its unveiling on June 24 at the Expo Milan, the Alfa Romeo Giulia has been teased by way of a very blurry image of its front-three-quarter profile. It appears that the BMW 3 Series rival gets a long hood with the traditional triangular grille, while the rear sports similarity to the Maserati Ghibli, with which the Giulia is reported to share several components.

The four-door sports sedan is expected with four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.

Known internally as 'Type 949', reports state that the Giulia will be powered by a force-fed four-cylinder Alfa-developed engine (likely an evolution of the 1750 TBi engine that powers the 4C), while a new V6 petrol engine will power the top-end variant, and the new rumored Ferrari Dino.

The Giulia is also expected to come with a diesel variant, and Alfa Romeo could very easily source the 3.0-liter V6 271 bhp engine from the Ghibli. With a standard rear-wheel drive layout, the Giulia would have the new Jaguar XE and BMW 3 Series in its crosshair, though a 'Q4' variant with an all-wheel drive setup will also be in the offing, reportedly.

Coming to the transmission, the Giulia could offer the advanced 9-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual for the driver who wants to be in control. However, further details are expected in the coming couple of days.
