Production expected to start in Thailand next month.

As Suzuki is gearing up to introduce the Ciaz in the Thai market later this year, spyshots of a cut-price entry-level variant with steel wheels and a basic interior have emerged on a Facebook page.

For Thailand, the Ciaz will be powered by a 1.25-liter petrol engine.

Likely to be positioned as the base variant, the Ciaz in these images gets black wing mirror caps and door handles, and misses out on wheel covers and foglights. Inside, the dashboard is pretty basic as it is devoid of features like a music system, automatic climate control and even the steering wheel misses out on integrated controls (as a music system is not offered in the first place). However, dual airbags seem to be on offer.

The Ciaz will comply with Thailand's EcoCar rules, one of which mandate a fuel efficiency of 20 km/l or higher. As a result, where the Indian Ciaz is powered by a 1.4-liter K-Series engine, the Thai model will get a 1.25-liter engine paired to 5-speed manual and CVT gearboxes. The engine and the gearbox are shared with the Thai Swift.

Production of the Ciaz is slated to start at Suzuki's plant in Rayong, Thailand, from the beginning of June this year. The same plant is responsible for making the Swift and Celerio models too.
