Engine options will remain the same.

In March this year, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the M Class facelift, but what will be called as the GLE, under its new nomenclature wherein a 'GL' prefix is added to SUVs and crossovers. The GLE, according to a report on Autocar India, will launch in India this year.

The front fascia of the GLE is now made inline with modern Mercedes models like the S Class and C Class. The headlights are inspired by these cars, while the grille and bumper have subtle design changes giving the SUV an aggressive or a sober look depending on the configuration chosen (Mercedes offers AMG Sport and regular bumpers on the GLE).

Save for a new bumper and LED taillights, there are no changes to the rear of the GLE. Even inside, differences between the GLE and the M Class are few in nature: A new 3-spoke steering wheel and a larger, free-standing COMAND infotainment display are the only alterations Mercedes have made.

In India, the M Class is offered with three engine options, and the GLE will carry on these engines. Starting the range is a 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel producing 204 PS and 480 Nm of torque, and sitting above it is a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 258 PS and 620 Nm of torque. Both these variants are assembled in India at the Pune plant.
