The 5-seat F-Pace will be based on the aluminium-intensive iQ platform.

The first SUV from Jaguar is reported to have its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year with sales in Europe expected to start in 2016. It was at the very same motor show in 2013 that Jaguar presented the C-X17 concept, a design precursor to the F-Pace.

The F-Pace will be based on the same aluminium-intensive platform as the Jaguar XE sedan. Other technical highlights of the crossover will include an "advanced suspension system" and an All-Surface Progress Control with an AWD kit.

JLR's new range of Ingenium four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will power the F-Pace, as will the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine seen on the F-Type and XE-S. Reports say that JLR's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) will make a performance-oriented SVR version of the F-Pace with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine on top of that.
