Spyshots give a clear idea of the Kite's final design.

As its debut draws closer, prototypes of the Tata Indica's successor (codenamed "Kite") have begun shedding the excess cammo wraps and body cladding. Spyshots of an almost-production-ready unit have been sent to us by IAB reader Fenin Rexo, which give us a better look at the final design of the Maruti Celerio beater.

The shot of the prototype next to the Maruti Wagon R (featured above) gives a basic perspective of the Kite's compact sizing.

Previous spyshots have indicated that the Kite's interior will be a step above the Indica in terms of design, materials, and equipment.

The Kite sits on a tweaked version of the Indica's platform, and its engine lineup will include a 1.2-liter petrol engine or a 1.05 liter three-cylinder diesel engine. Paired to the engine is a choice between a manual gearbox or an automated manual transmission (AMT), while another report spoke of an optional e-clutch system as well.
