Mechanical changes for the Indian model are not expected.

Seen here is a speculative rendering of the Ford EcoSport facelift, which according to a report, will be ready for a market launch in the first half of 2016. The rendering imagines the compact SUV to borrow its front fascia from the new Ford Edge, with a trapezoidal grille, slim headlight clusters and L-shaped foglight enclosures.

India is one of the main markets for the EcoSport, in terms of sales and production.

The EcoSport is currently the best-selling product for Ford India averaging about 4,000 units per month. Apart from sale in the domestic market, the India-made EcoSport is exported to over 40 countries globally including markets in Europe, Australia and South Africa.

However, the EcoSport came under criticism in Europe for appearing too brash, which Ford have tried to address with the EcoSport S. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last month, the EcoSport S gets rid of the external spare wheel while featuring improvements to the sound deadening and suspension system.

At the moment, the EcoSport S will be sold exclusively in Europe.

Apart from cosmetic changes, the EcoSport facelift for the Indian market would continue to be offered with the 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines, and the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine. Save for the EcoBoost engine, the EcoSport is well over 80 percent localized in India.

Launched in mid-2013, Ford India would be looking to introduce the facelift around mid-2016.
