The recall covers a total of 33,098 vehicles (comprising 19,780 units of Alto 800 and 13,318 units of Alto K10) manufactured between 8th December 2014 and 18th February 2015.

A faulty "right hand door latch assembly" is to blame.

The reason for issuing the recall is a "right hand door latch assembly" which, when half-latched, can be opened with reasonable pressure from inside, compromising safety. Though the company considers it a rare occurrence, they are still undertaking the task of replacing the component to ensure customer safety.

Owners of Maruti Alto 800 or Alto K10 purchased on or after 8th December 2014, can check out Maruti's website to know whether their vehicle is affected. Alternatively, owners can contact the nearest Maruti dealer/workshop to know if their car is part of the recall.
