Launches on March 17.

Overdrive has reported that the Hyundai i20 Active will likely be sold in four variants including diesel and petrol. Earlier spyshots showed the top-end variant using the nomenclature of Hyundai's premium models, with 'SX' instead of 'Asta' for the top-end variant.

The interior can be chosen with a black base and orange inserts on the dash, seats and doors.

The adventure version of the Elite i20 gets circular foglamps with cornering function, chunky front bumper, and projector headlights with LED daytime running lamps.

New body paints will also be offered to have it differ from the Elite i20, and changes continue with satin-finish roof rails, new alloy wheel design, fuel lid with satin finish, matte-black body cladding, faux aluminum skid plates and circular rear reflectors.

The dashboard layout of the Elite i20 is carried forward but the car can be had with dual tone black and orange colour schemes, apart from a blue and black combo (IAB has seen this on another car). Air vents are surrounded by a brown bezel.

The Active will form the upper strata of the i20 range in India.

While the Elite's engine and gearbox are retained, thanks to tweaks, the driveability of the car is better, while turbo lag is reduced.

The i20 Active will launch on March 17 and is expected to be priced at about INR 1 lakh over the corresponding Elite i20 trim.

Rivals: Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura, Volkswagen Cross Polo
Expected Price: INR 6.5-8 lakhs, ex-showroom
