Will make its global debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show next month.

Well after the next generation Nissan Maxima first appeared in a commercial aired during this year's Super Bowl, a couple of spyshots of the mid-size sedan plying a freeway has surfaced, giving us another look at the all new design out in the wild.

Drawing many design cues from the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept, the new Maxima will be evolutionary in terms of styling and tech offered. Speaking about the former, the sedan now features a wide V-motion front end, boomerang headlamps, a high deck, and a floating roof. The same design will also influence the next generation Sunny.

The new Maxima draws heavy influence from the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept.

Inside - as seen in recent spyshots - the design focuses on invoking a dynamic feel with an angled center console housing a large infotainment display; a BMW i-Drive style rotary dial; sporty flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel; and sports seats. Other features include a trip computer display that appears to be a digital unit, a dual-zone climate control, and a starter button placed ergonomically in front of the gear selector.

The car is expected to be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine that makes in excess of 260 hp. Transmission options will most likely include a CVT unit only.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima will make its global debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show that starts on April 1, and could be offered to a wider spectrum of markets than before. With a weak demand for Japanese mid-size luxury sedans, it's quite unlikely that the Nissan Maxima will make an entry into India anytime soon.

Competitors: Ford Taurus, Toyota Avalon, Volkswagen CC, Hyundai Azera
Expected launch: Mid-2015 (US market, speculated)
