The Ford Everest (Ford Endeavour in India) was launched in Thailand today at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show.

The third-generation premium SUV is partly based on the Ford Ranger (T6) pick-up platform and features new exterior and interiors with a host of off-roading and safety features.

The new Everest boasts an advanced Terrain Management System, first-in-class in-car connectivity SYNC 2, Active Park Assist with hands-free feature, Curve Control and Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, along with power-fold third-row seating and powered liftgate.

The new SUV is based on the body-on-frame design, made of boron steel with better torsional strength, and is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants. The 4WD system boasts an active transfer case with torque on demand. The SUV’s ground clearance is 225 mm and water-wading ability is at 800 mm maximum, and features coil spring suspension at front and rear axles, with an addition of Watt’s linkage on the rear axle.

The new car sports Ford’s Kinetic Design that clues at the new EcoSport, Kuga/Escape, and the Edge. Ford offers two engine and transmissions options - a 3.2-liter Duratorq 5-cylinder diesel unit generating 147 kW (197.13 hp) and 470 Nm of torque, and a smaller 2.2-liter Duratorq 4-cylinder diesel, churning out 118 kW (158.24 hp) and 385 Nm of torque. The engines are paired to a six-speed automatic or manual transmissions.

Ford’s terrain management system has four preset settings - Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock - to alter vehicle’s throttle response, transmission, 4WD system and traction control for better off-roading. Users can also manually lock the transfer case in low-range 4WD for better control. The Everest is also equipped with seven airbags, roll stability control and an ESP.

The SYNC 2, Ford’s latest in-car connectivity app, uses voice commands for entertainment system, climate control and connected mobile devices functions. The system is connected to an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and 10-speaker sound system.

Other features includes a dual-panel moon roof, multiple power outlets, fold-flat second row, power-fold third-row seat, and an electric lift gate. Ford employs active noise cancellation technology to reduce road noise in the cabin.

The Everest is produced in Thailand since 2003, and the new model will be manufactured at the same facility in Rayong, Thailand. Ford has already announced that India will receive the new Endeavour in 2015, and it expected during the last quarter, very likely as CKD packs that will be assembled at the Chennai plant.
