Production to begin before April 1, 2015.

The new Ford Figo hatchback and sedan have been caught on video by Gaadi.com. Running on GJ-plates, they establish that they are from Ford's Sanand facility, which is where the two will be produced, with the full-fledged production slated to kick off before the end of the first quarter of 2015.

Both cars are likely to carry the Figo branding with suitable suffixes. Seen in the video are the base and top-end versions of the Figo hatch, and mid- and top-spec versions of the Figo sedan. The top-spec Figo hatch is enriched with chrome grille, alloy wheels, and ORVM-mounted blinkers, while the base-spec does with steel wheels, outside mirror only on the right side, no colour coded fittings or chrome grille. The sedans were similar, with the base version featuring wheel caps and lacking a roof-mounted antenna.

Both cars are based on a re-engineered version of the Fiesta platform that underpins the Figo and the Classic. Showcased first at the 2014 Auto Expo in concept form, the Ford Figo sedan, like the hatchback, is likely to be powered by the existing 1.5-litre diesel engine. A new 1-litre petrol engine, sources say, would debut on the range, based on the EcoBoost unit (but without a turbocharger).

Already selling in Brazil as Ford Ka, the sedan was recently spotted by an IAB reader near Rajasthan, while another recent outing of the vehicle revealed the interior getting an all-black scheme with piano black finish for the centre console.

The mobile docking station, which the company mentioned at the time of the Figo sedan's unveiling, was seen as well.
