The India-bound Land Rover Discovery Sport has been spotted in China by AutoHome. The car made its Chinese premiere at the Guangzhou Auto Show 2014.
The Sport will likely be the second product from the Chery-JLR JV plant in Changshu, and has been spotted carrying the identification stickers from the said facility, adds the report. The plant rolled out the locally assembled Range Rover Evoque a few days ago, and could also make the upcoming Jaguar XE sedan, as reported earlier. The company has not yet confirmed the local manufacturing of these models.
Positioned as a replacement to the Freelander 2, the Discovery Sport is the first member of the new Discovery family. Engine options for the vehicle include a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, while gearbox choices include 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic. It boasts a new Terrain Response System, and comes with an ability to wade water as deep as 600 mm. It can seat seven, gets a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and features like autonomous braking, too.

The Discovery Sport will arrive in India in mid-2015 and is initially expected to be a CBU import, while another report says that the SUV will be assembled at Pune plant from August.
