Ford India announces SYNC with AppLink for EcoSport Titanium - IAB Report

Second Ford model to get this feature in India.

Starting this month, the top-end Titanium variants of the Ford EcoSport in India will get the upgraded Ford SYNC with Ford Applink infotainment system. The system, was launched on the 2014 Ford Fiesta in India last year, and the EcoSport will now be the second recipient of this technology in India.

The Fiesta facelift was the first Ford model to get the AppLink system in India.

The SYNC is Ford's voice-command-based system, through which occupants can call out commands to make or receive phone calls from their paired device. The AppLink system on the other hand integrates certain Apps into the central display of the car.

At the moment, in India, apps such as ESPN Cricinfo, explore by MapMyIndia (which can find nearby places of interest/restaurants etc) and a global, secure location sharing app called Glympse, are available on the AppLink system. According to Ford, its working with several app partners in India and across the globe to add to the list of Ford AppLink compatible apps.

The AppLink is available only on the Titanium variant of the EcoSport.

The EcoSport, launched in June 2013, has been a successful launch for Ford India with over 100,000 units sold in the domestic market.
