The AMG GT and the new C63 will further extend the AMG portfolio in India this year.
Autocar India reports that Mercedes-Benz India will launch the new Mercedes-AMG C63 in the country in the third quarter of this year. The new C63 will be one of 15 launches announced by Mercedes-Benz India for 2015.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year, the new C63 is powered by the newly-developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which also does duty on the AMG GT. Available in power states of 476 PS and 510 PS, its the latter, more powerful C63 S which will come to India.
Producing 700 Nm of torque, a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission puts this on to the road, accelerating the sedan from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds and onto a limited top-speed of 250 km/h. The C63 comes fitted with dynamic engine mounts and an AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension as standard.
In the Indian market, the new C63 S will rival the recently-launched BMW M3, which is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The M3 was launched in India at a price of INR 1.198 crores, ex-Showroom.
Competitor: BMW M3
Expected Price: INR 1.3 crores, ex-Showroom
