Land Rover will list the five-door Range Rover Evoque, locally manufactured at the Chery-JLR factory in Changshu, China, on sale across the country from February 1st, 2015, reads a report on AutoHome.
Due to rising demand of the Range Rover Evoque in the Chinese market, where one in three Land Rovers sold is an Evoque, the Tata Motors-owned company found it ideal to tie-up with Chinese car manufacturer Chery to locally produce the crossover in its 5-door guise, while the less popular three-door model will continue to be imported from the UK.
The locally manufactured Evoque was first previewed at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2014, which featured Chery branding to highlight the joint venture.
According to a leaked picture, the Chinese Evoque will be available in three variants. From what we can gather, the basic variant will feature Land Rover's Terrain Response system, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 8-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats, panoramic sunroof, and parking sensors on the front and rear bumpers.
The middle variant comes with an 825 Watt Meridian sound system, adaptive front headlamps, and blind spot monitoring system, while the top-end variant will add 20-inch wheels and a 10-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats.
The Chinese Evoque will retain the 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ford EcoBoost petrol engine that makes 240 hp of power and 340 Nm of torque. It comes paired to a 9-speed gearbox that drives all four wheels via Land Rover's four-wheel-drive system.

With local manufacturing, the starting price for the Range Rover Evoque will reportedly drop to around CNY 400,000 (INR 39.68 lakhs).
The Evoque will soon be accompanied by the Discovery Sport and Jaguar XE at the Changshu production facility.
