Prices start at RM 150,000.
Nissan has commenced bookings for its X-Trail SUV in the Malaysian market, with the prices of the vehicle starting at RM 150,000 onward (around INR 26.95 lakh) for the 2WD version. The vehicle is available in two variants: a 2-litre 2WD version and a more powerful 2.5-litre engined all-wheel drive variant, with the latter being priced at RM 170,000 onward (around INR 30.5 lakh).
The vehicle is based on Renault-Nissan's Common Module Family (CMF) architecture, and is targeted at the same demographic as the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5. It offers a 7-seater (5+2) capacity but fold the third row down and you'll get 550 litres of boot space. The second row can be folded to further increase the loading capacity to 1,520 litres.
On the mechanical front, the base 2WD version is powered by a 2-litre petrol engine that makes 142 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The more powerful 2.5-litre engine comes with an all-wheel drive system as standard, and makes 168 hp of max power at 6,000 rpm and 233 Nm of max torque at 4,000 rpm. The all-wheel drive system aside (the 2WD is front wheel drive), both engines use the same CVT automatic gearbox.
Malaysia-spec car comes with driver aids like Vehicle Dynamics Control, ABS (with brake assist), Active Chassis Control package, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control (AWD only). There's a reverse camera which makes parking the SUV easy, and dual airbags are standard on both models.

In terms of dimensions, the new X-Trail is 4,640 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1,715 mm tall. As for its India arrival, Nissan India hasn't finalized its decision on whether to bring the vehicle to the country or not.
