Expected to be lighter than before.

The current generation Audi Q7 (first) is about to end its life-cycle, and the new, second-generation version is ready to make an appearance at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show. Here's another rendered image that tries to show how the 2016 Audi Q7 will look like, courtesy Auto Zeitung.

2016 Audi Q7 SUV rendering front three quarters
The 2016 Audi Q7 is expected to flaunt the new Q3-like six-point grille.

The silhouette is very similar to the current version of the Q7, and while the rear isn't visible in the image, the front is where most of the changes seem to have taken place. Much like the rendition by IAB's Shoeb Kalania, this image too shows a six-point grille and the new look headlamps. The air dams next to the foglamps appear to be less boldly styled than the earlier renders.

The vehicle will be based on Volkswagen's MLB-Evo platform, which will go on to underpin the next Porsche Cayenne and other premium vehicles like the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley's EXP-9F's based SUV. The new platform will enable weight saving of up to 300 kg, and could thus help in achieving better fuel economy and improved dynamics.
