Indonesia – KTM RC390’s bookings open for 390 hours
Nithyanandh K, As a toddler, those wheeled machinery fascinated me even before I knew what they’re called as! So here I'm, petrolhead by birth, Mechanical engineer by qualification and automotive reporter by profession!
Deliveries to begin in January 2015.
The KTM RC390 which is enjoying a high demand in India has been announced for Indonesia. Slated to go on sale in the country early next year, PT Moto KTM Indonesia has started pre-launch bookings for the fully faired sportsbike for a limited period of 390 hours (16 days and 6 hours).
Customers can order theirs at www.ktmindonesia.com. KTM recently showcased the India-made bike in Indonesia but has not revealed the pricing. The RC390 is estimated to be priced at IDR 100 million (around INR 5.06 lakhs).
The RC390 is based on the Duke 390 but offers track friendly handling and a lean-forward riding position. The razor sharp styling would be well received in the compact sportbike loving Indonesian market.
The motorcycle is powered by a 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, also derived from the Duke 390. The fuel-injected motor delivers an impressive 43.5 PS (42.9 bhp) at 9,000 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. In terms of performance, the Austrian machine clearly outweighs its perceived rival, the locally made Yamaha YZF-R25. However, the new YZF-R3, if launched in Indonesia, will be a proper rival.
Competitors: Yamaha YZF-R25, Honda CBR300R
Expected Price: IDR 100 million (around INR 5.08 lakhs)
Launch Date: Early 2015
