Initially, only a petrol variant will be offered.

Mercedes-Benz India will launch the new generation C Class today, nearly 11 months after it was world premiered at the Detroit Auto Show this year.

The new C Class was showcased in India for the first time at the CeBIT expo this month.

Today, the company will only launch the petrol variant of the C Class, and that too, the initial set of cars will be imported from Europe. Local assembly, and launch of the popular diesel variant, are expected to take place in the next calendar year.

The C Class launching today is the C 200 petrol, which is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission spinning the rear wheels.

An 8.4-inch display and a 13-speaker Burmester sound system will be some of the several features in the new C Class.

Since the car is imported, it will be well equipped with features like LED lighting, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, an 8.4-inch infotainment system with the new touchpad controller, LED ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels and satellite navigation.

The C Class is the best selling model for Mercedes-Benz in India. As of January this year, the Indian arm of the German luxury carmaker sold over 19,000 units of the sedan in the country.
