Report - New Mini 3 and 5-door engine specifications for India leaked

A range of 3- and 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be seen.

BMW India will launch the new Mini tomorrow in its 3 and 5-door avatar. Ahead of the launch, the engine specifications of the compact luxury cars have leaked on the internet.

The Mini 3-door will also be offered in its least powerful First trim.

A total of 7 engine options will be seen on the Mini 3-door and 6 on the Mini 5-door. Starting from the entry-level Mini One First (the least powerful version of the Mini), BMW will offer all variants till the Cooper S and Cooper SD. The high-performance John Cooper Works will not be available in India, at least initially.

The Mini One First is powered by a 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine producing 75 hp and 150 Nm of torque, and takes 12.8 seconds for 0-100 km/h with a top-speed of 175 km/h. The One First will be solely offered on the 3-door model.

The Mini One which is powered by the same engine as the One First variant produces a healthier 102 hp and 180 Nm of torque. The diesel variant of the Mini One, called the One D, gets a three-cylinder 1.5-liter engine making 95 hp and 220 Nm of torque.

Only the Cooper S and Cooper SD feature four-cylinder engines.

Next up are the Cooper and Cooper D models, which are powered by 1.5L three-cylinder engines. The 1.5L petrol makes 136 hp and 220 Nm of torque, while the diesel does with 116 hp and 270 Nm of torque.

Finally, the Cooper S and Cooper SD are the only models in the range to use four-cylinder engines. The 2L engine in the Cooper S makes 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque, while the 2L diesel engine produces 170 hp and 360 Nm of torque.
