A superbike with two front wheels.

The unconventional Yamaha 01GEN three-wheeled "on & off crossover" concept has premiered at the INTERMOT 2014, in Cologne, Germany.

The design is a futuristic interpretation of Yamaha's current superbike styling language. Finished in a silver and blue combination, the dynamic O1GEN Concept looks far from production-ready.

The company says that The 01GEN is "a proposal for a personal vehicle that enables enjoyment of two modes in one chassis" - demanding riding and relaxed riding. The name sources its inspiration from two words - genesis and generate.

Save for the two front wheels which are supported by four telescopic suspension elements, the rest of the 01GEN concept, with its exposed engine and a swing arm, remains true to an audacious motorcycle concept.

The Japanese two-wheeler major has not revealed the technical specifications except saying that it employs a belt drive. Going by the size of the engine and the level of aggression in the design, the performance should be in the litre class superbike territory.
