The next gen Hyundai i20 which Indian Autos Blog learns to be launching on August 11 has been spied inside-out.

The 2015 Hyundai i20 has a much wider stance, and has an expensive look.

The blue and silver cars, both of which are of top-end Asta variants, have been spotted somewhere in Chennai. The second iteration of the popular premium hatchback has been designed with an entirely new thinking-hat on and as a result, looks nothing like the car it replaces.

The all-new Hyundai i20's redesigned front fascia elements give it a much wider stance with a hint of the Grand i10. The stretched headlamps with metallic inserts, a narrow slit of a grille, chrome lined secondary airdam and sharp bumper with a tertiary airdam sum up the new front end.

The launch of the new i20 is scheduled on August 11. The older i20 will be replaced with it.

In profile, the near-flat roof, pronounced shoulder line and blacked out C pillar (in some variants) have a European feel to them, yet offering the most practical design. The rear fascia gets combination lights that are reminiscent of the ones seen on modern Hyundais like the Santa Fe.

The Asta variant gets chrome door handles, rear parking sensor, side body cladding and indicators on the outside mirrors.

Late last evening, the first photos revealing the complete interior of the car also emerged on Facebook and forum pages. The spyshot reveals a dual-tone beige-black dashboard that is a big departure from the current i20 in layout and finish. The center stack is split into two sections for the air conditioning controls and the stereo (likely with an internal harddisk provision), and exudes a more upmarket feel than the current version that groups both these systems into one interface.

The dashboard is revamped with conventional position for the aircon vents, a split setup for the center console and a new MID on the instrument cluster.

The air con vents take their usual place higher up on the dashboard, and it has two 12V sockets. A MID screen is nestled between the instruments and also viewable are a dead pedal, push-button start, controls for audio and phone on the steering wheel.

The sub-4 metre hatchback, sources add, will offer more interior space than the outgoing vehicle.

The current powertrain lineup, which comprises a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel, is expected to be retained.

Competitors: Maruti Suzuki Swift, VW Polo, Honda Jazz, Fiat Punto Evo, Tata Bolt

Expected price: INR 5 – 7.5 lakhs ex-showroom
