Sales continue to remain in favor of the car.

The Hyundai i10 was the spiritual successor to the Santro hatchback, which marked Hyundai Motor India Ltd’s (HMIL) debut in the country in 1998. Post the i10’s launch, the Santro remained, continuing to compete with entry-level hatchbacks. In September last year, Hyundai launched the successor to the i10 by way of the Grand i10, yet the family lineage from the Santro era continues to be seen in the car maker’s lineup.

According to a report, Hyundai has no plans of stopping the Santro’s production at least in the near future. Speaking to a publication, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Senior vice-president for marketing and sales of HMIL, said that the old hatchback continues to bring in volumes of about 2,400 – 2,500 units per month, which is nearly triple of the Datsun Go’s sales.

He also said that the car receives good demand in northern and western India, and some parts of south India. Some Santro Xing’s strong markets include Haryana, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, the official said.
