Order book open for the improved T1.

There have been many supercars with Formula One as inspiration, but Caparo Vehicle Technologies is the only one to strive to make a street-legal F1 car, the Caparo T1.

Designed and developed by former McLaren F1 engineers along with F1 design guru Gordon Murray, the T1 does 0-62mph in less than 2.5 seconds topping out at 205 mph (330 kmph) and became the fastest on Top Gear with a time of 1:10.6, beating the Koenigsegg CCX which previously posted a 1:17.6 lap time.

The T1 Evolution has an updated chassis and interior.

Costing £235,000 (INR 2.4 crore), this 470 kilogram land rocket packs an all-aluminum 32 valve 3.5 liter naturally aspirated Menrad V8 generating 575 bhp at 10,500 rpm with a 1223 bhp per ton unheard-of power-to-weight ratio.

Caparo has now announced a limited edition T1-Evolution with a 700 bhp power unit, an updated chassis and a new suspension.

An excerpt from the Caparo website says. “We are now in position to be able to accept orders for this exclusive British engineered and manufactured vehicle. If you decide that the Caparo T1 Evolution is for you, you will become a part of a very small and very exclusive community.”

The T1-Evolution will also be offering optional Silver, Gold or Platinum parts; our opulent Middle East buyers might want to throw a glance.

To recap, the T1's chassis is a carbon fiber and aluminum honeycomb monocoque with a front composite crash structure and a rear tubular space frame construction. The suspension is a double wishbone design with tunable anti-roll bars, front and rear, and five-way adjustable race dampers. The interior of the T1 is a two-seat configuration, lacking any amenities and luxuries to reduce excess weight.
