Ranger-based SUV to launch in key Asian markets including India next year.

A report from Go Auto states that the next generation Ford Endeavour will receive advanced safety features. Prototypes of the SUV were spotted with lenses and sensors behind the windscreen indicating that the car would receive features like autonomous braking and a crash detection system.

While the new Endeavour could indeed get these features (at least on the top-end variant or as an option), we doubt these systems would make their way to India. Autonomous braking and crash detection generally make use of a radar control system, and the government of India prohibits civilian vehicles from having radars. Its for the same reason that the new Mercedes S Class sold in India is unavailable with all the safety and assistance systems as its European counterpart (such as the Steering Assist or Magic Body Control).

However, other features reported to come on the 2016 Endeavour such as a coil sprung rear suspension, self leveling rear suspension and a multi-mode AWD system, could make their way into the Indian model.

The new Endeavour is expected to launch in India sometime next year.
