The Polo facelift receives minor visual upgrades like a revised front grille, bumper, foglights, reflector elements inside the headlamps, alloy wheels and an orange exterior color option.

The new flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel is the biggest change on the inside. The centre console is now finished in silver and the multi-info display on the instrument cluster gets a new font style.

The biggest improvement on the facelift actually lies under the hood in the form a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The new motor phases out the noisy 1.2-litre three-cylinder mill. According to a leaked VW document, the motor is available in two states of tune - 88.2 bhp (90 PS) and 102.9 bhp (105 PS). The more powerful version is reserved only for the Polo GT TDI variant.

The petrol options however remain the same. The lower variants employ the 1.2-litre three cylinder engine that produces 73.5 bhp (75 PS) while the top-end Polo GT TSI uses the 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol motor churning out 102.9 bhp (105 PS).

Except for the Polo GT TSI which uses a 7-speed DSG (automatic), all variants are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
