A reader of Motoroids spotted the Tata Bolt testing near Mahableshwar, Maharashtra, with the creative camouflage that reads the name of the car. The Bolt, which was revealed along with the Zest, is expected to go on sale by the end of this year. Based on the Vista's platform, the Bolt gets a redone exterior and a massively revamped interior, much like its compact sedan sibling.

The Tata Bolt is expected to launch soon after the Zest.

Tata has announced two engine choices for the Bolt. The petrol engine is the 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine making 85 PS (83.8 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque, which is 5 PS (4.92 bhp) lower than the Zest. The diesel which uses the familiar Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter Multijet engine makes 75 PS (73.94 bhp) and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, though there is a possibility for Tata to offer an AMT on the diesel.

Tata is first focussing its energy on the Zest, as production of the sedan has already started at the Fiat-Tata joint venture plant in Ranjangaon. The Zest will go on sale next month.
