Honda Cars India have issued a recall alert for the Honda CR-V and the Honda Accord. As reported earlier, the recall is part of a global exercise being carried out by Honda Motor Company and other car manufacturers like Nissan, BMW and Toyota who were supplied airbag components by Takata Corporation.

CR-Vs and Accords made in 2003 and 1 CR-V made in 2002 are part of the recall in India.

A total of 1,075 units of the Accord and 252 units of the CR-V manufactured in 2003, and 1 unit of the CR-V made in 2002 will be recalled in India. The affected cars have faulty passenger side airbag inflators. There have been no reports of incidents related to these vehicles so far. The affected component will be replaced by the company free of cost. The recall will take place in a phased manner and the company will communicate with customers directly. A page has been setup on the company’s website where owners can check if their cars are part of the recall by entering the 17-digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).

Earlier this year, Honda India recalled the non-ABS variants of the Brio and Amaze over a faulty proportioning valve. The carmaker said it would inspect 15,623 units of the Brio and 15,603 units of the Amaze.

Internationally, Honda’s airbag recall affects the CR-V, Accord and the Jazz hatchback.
