The Hero Passion Pro TR which is an on/off-road variant of the regular Passion Pro has been listed on Hero Motocorp's Indian website.
Hero Motocorp dealeres in Mumbai say that the bike would be launched in the coming months but an accurate time-frame and the details of pricing are still sketchy. However, Indian Autos Blog learns that a few dealers in Delhi have already started accepting bookings for the new variant at INR 1,000, suggesting that there would be a city wise phased launch.
The Passion Pro TR adds some rugged looking elements to the regular variant. The standout features include off road tyres, high mounted fender (there is also a front tyre hugger), headlamp grille, knuckle guards, a knee pad on the fuel tank and an engine shield.
The commuter which wants to be an adventure motorcycle is powered by Hero's proven 97.2 cc air cooled engine, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The power and torque output stand at 7.64 bhp (7.8 PS) and 8.04 Nm of torque. The rest of the specifications are same as the regular Passion Pro.
The Passion Pro TR's off-road tyres are of size 2.75 x 18 - 6 PR / 50 L upfront and 3.00 x 18 - 6 PR / 52 P at the rear. Other noteworthy features include a front disc brake, a maintenance free battery and an optional electric starter. The on/off-road bike will be available in three color options - Electric Blue, Sports Red and dual-tone Black with Sports red.
Hero previously ventured into the on/off-road segment with the Impulse 150 which couldn't find enough takers due to the lack of a more powerful engine. While the Impulse 150 was developed grounds up, the Passion Pro TR would be a risk-free experiment.
