IAB Report – Facelifts of VW Polo GT TDI, GT TSI and Cross Polo to launch in September

VW India announced today that the facelifts of the VW Polo GT TDI, VW Polo GT TSI and the VW CrossPolo will be available from September 2014.
The GT TSI variant is powered by a four-cylinder 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 105 PS (103.52 bhp) @ 5,000 RPM and 175 Nm @ 1,500 – 4,100 RPM, matched to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. It delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.21 km/l.
The GT TDI variant is powered by the same four-cylinder 1.5-liter diesel engine as the Polo diesel, but it gets a higher state of tune, outputting 105 PS (103.52 bhp) @ 4,400 RPM and 250 Nm @ 1,500 – 2,500 RPM. It is matched to a five-speed manual transmission and delivers a fuel efficiency of 19.91 km/l, as per ARAI.
Design and styling updates on the TSI and TDI variants are the same as the regular Polo. The performance variants receive new lights, wheels, bumpers and grille, while the interior gets new upholstery and fabrics with a silver-finished center console.
The VW Cross Polo facelift carries the same exterior changes, and in addition more expressive bumpers, side body mouldings and Cross Polo badging. It harnesses power from a four-cylinder 1.5-liter diesel engine which puts out 90 PS (88.73 bhp) @ 4,200 RPM and 230 Nm @ 1,500 – 2,500 RPM, paired to a five-speed manual transmission. This engine delivers 20.14 km/l mileage, as per ARAI. The Cross Polo doesn’t come in petrol. All variants of the Polo come with dual front airbags as standard.
As for the prices, the VW Polo GT TSI is priced at INR 7.99 lakhs, the VW Polo GT TDI is priced at INR 7.99 lakhs and the VW Cross Polo is priced at INR 7.90 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom New Delhi and introductory).
