Renault have started work on the next generation Koleos which will be underpinned by the modern CMF (Common Module Family) platform that was jointly developed by Renault and Nissan.

The current generation Koleos failed to make a dent in its segment, both in Europe and India. Renault have however had sales success with the compact Captur SUV, and that has given the company interesting styling ideas for the new Koleos.

The new Koleos will look more attractive than the current model, according to this report.

France's reputed Automobile Magazine reports that the second gen Koleos will be about 10 cm shorter than the current model, and will have its length at about 4.4 meters. The visibly large proportions, and outdated styling of the current model are believed to be two chief reasons for the car's failure. The new platform will mean the Koleos sharing a few of its components with the new Nissan Qashqai. Engine options could be carried over from the Qashqai as a result, which is available with four choices.

A recent report stated that the new Koleos will arrive only in 2016. The Koleos is a brand-shaping, and not to mention flagship, product for Renault in India, and we expect the new model to replace the current Koleos soon after European sales start.
