2016 Toyota Innova spied in India
The next generation Toyota Innova will come to India in 2016.

Based on an all-new platform, the new Innova will continue to use a ladder-frame setup instead of a monocoque. Though the profile of the car is unmistakable for anything but an Innova, the styling is expected to be in tune with Toyota's current design language. The test mule appears visibly longer than the current Innova, suggesting that there would be more room inside than the current model.

Powering the new Innova will be Toyota's new family of diesel engines. The powertrains are expected to offer better efficiency than today's engines, and the NVH package would be improved as well. An automatic gearbox for the diesel engine is also under consideration, Indian Autos Blog has come to know.

The Innova is Toyota Kirloskar Motor's best selling car with average monthly sales accounting for 4,600 units (January-June 2014 period). The new model is expected to build on this success.

Competitors: Honda Mobilio, Nissan Evalia, Chevrolet Enjoy

Expected Price: INR 9 - 15 lakhs, ex-Showroom
