Exterior design renderings of the next generation 2016 Kia Sorento, the sister model of the Hyundai Santa Fe, have been made by Kia-World.net.

The sketches reveal a more confident and sportier version of the current Sorento, and are believed to have insider inputs.

The front fascia is more upright compared to the current generation with a new front grille which still follows the 'tiger shark' design. The new sweptback headlamps are sharper and position themselves closer to the A-Pillar. Other noticeable changes at the front are the new 'ice cube' triangular foglamps, sportier body cladding and a new alloy wheel design.

At the rear, the replacement is expected to feature twin exhaust, horizontal rear reflectors replacing the vertical ones, reworked rear valance and an integrated rear spoiler.

The car is reportedly powered by a 3.3-liter GDI V6 engine borrowed from the Sedona, and if not, a 2.0-liter turbo engine is provided on the lower variants. AWD will be optional. To be unveiled this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the car may launch prior to that in Korea.

The Sorento competes with the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda Pilot, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Edge.
