Spied - India-bound 2015 Volvo XC90 caught testing ahead of next month's reveal

The next generation 2015 Volvo XC90 was caught testing in Europe recently. The second gen XC90 is confirmed for an online reveal in August, followed by a public premiere at the Paris Motor Show which takes place this October.

Volvo has previously said that there will be a new range-topping T8 trim of the XC90 which will source power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged Drive-E petrol hybrid engine. The engine drives the front wheels of the XC90 and an 80 bhp electric motor takes care of the rear wheels. Combined, the T8 will produce 400 bhp and 640 Nm of torque. It will have an electric-only range of 40 km.

The 2015 XC90 is expected in Indian shores sometime next year.

Apart from this, the new XC90 will be offered with a 225 bhp twin-turbo diesel, a 190 bhp turbo diesel, a 320 bhp turbo and supercharged petrol and a 254 bhp turbocharged petrol. Underpinned by a new platform, the 2015 XC90 is expected to be lighter than its predecessor.

The new XC90 is expected to go on sale in Europe by early next year, and in India by the middle of 2015.
