Here is an official promotional video which highlights the R25's salient credentials while showing the bike attacking a race track. With features such as meaty tyres (front - 110/70-17 M/C and rear - 140/70-17 M/C), powerful brakes (front - 298 mm 2 pot caliper and rear - 220 mm 1 pot caliper), steel diamond type chassis which holds the engine as a stressed member to reduce weight, 50:50 weight distribution, rear monocross suspension and aerodynamically optimized front fairing, the machine is designed to feel at home on a race track.

To match the potent handling package, the Yamaha R25's fuel injected 250 cc parallel twin engine with offset Die cast Aluminium Silicon (DiASil) cylinders, forged aluminium pistons and carburized connecting rods produces an impressive 36 PS of power and 22.6 Nm of torque. The short muffler makes for a racy exhaust note.

The Yamaha R25 is positioned above the R15 and takes on equally potent small displacement sportbikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the recently unveiled Honda CBR300R.
