Petrol aside, the Tata Bolt diesel could become the cheapest diesel AT car in India.

Tata have confirmed that the Zest sub-4 metre sedan would offer the AMT with its diesel engine but maintained silence as far as the Bolt's transmission options are concerned. The display vehicles at the Auto Expo and Geneva Motor Show were seen with a five-speed manual gearbox.

The turbo petrol motor outputs 85 PS and 140 Nm of torque. While AMT would be available as an option, the standard equipment will be the 5-speed manual gearbox. Both transmissions are expected to have similar gear ratios and fuel economy rating.

The dashboard is expected to have an exterior color coordinated theme.

While the Zest's 1.3-litre diesel engine will be available with an AMT, it remains to be seen whether Tata will offer the clutchless transmission in the diesel Bolt or not, though reports say that the Bolt diesel would be the cheapest diesel automatic car in India when it goes on sale.

Tata have also released an image of the Bolt's interior which features a black dashboard with an orange insert. It's expected that the contrast insert can be coordinated with exterior color on request, as an optional extra.

The Tata Zest would go on sale in August while the Bolt is expected to follow a month later.
