Kia's version of the ix25 is touted to arrive in 2015. In a similar strategy, Kia rebranded the new Hyundai Mistra, as the K4.

As per the Chinese media reports, the Kia SUV will be fitted with a more sophisticated multi-link independent rear suspension system compared to the ix25's cost effective torsion beam setup. It's also reported to be equipped with upmarket features such as 4WD system, LED daytime running lights, projector lamps and rear disc brakes.

While the camouflaged test mule keeps the details hidden, it can be seen that the SUV's silhouette is reminiscent with that of the ix25. Of course, Kia would give the front and rear fascias its family identity. The interior too is expected to be carried forward with minor changes.

Positioning of the Kia compact SUV would be a rung above the ix25.

The Kia badged model is most likely to have same dimensions as its Hyundai sibling which is 4,270 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,630 mm tall. The wheels are set apart by 2,590 mm.

Without revealing the technical details, Hyundai has announced that the China-spec ix25 would be powered by a Nu 2.0-litre petrol engine. Kia is likely to adopt a higher power version of the same unit.

The Hyundai ix25 would go on sale in China in the coming months. It's sister from Kia would be positioned higher and is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2015.
