The refreshed CLS gets redesigned headlights with the option of Multibeam LED headlights (regular LED lights are standard), a new grille and a sportier looking front bumper. Towards the rear, the CLS remains unchanged save for minor reprofiling of the taillights.

Inside, the facelifted CLS gets a new three-spoke sports steering wheel and a new 8-inch display. The center control panel now features two buttons as against the earlier four, and reduces the operating steps says Mercedes. The interiors can be specced in five colors and six trim finishes and grades of leather.

Under the hood, the CLS is available with five engine choices complying with Euro 6 emission norms. The engine range starts with a new four-cylinder diesel model called CLS 220 producing 170 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The other diesel engines, CLS 250 with 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque and CLS 350 with 258 hp and 620 Nm of torque, continue unchanged and are in fact offered in India (on the pre-facelift).

The petrol lineup includes the CLS 400 which now gets a turbocharged 3.5-liter engine, and the CLS 500 with the flagship V8 engine. Apart from these engine options, Mercedes will offer the CLS 63 AMG with the 5.5-liter V8 engine making either 557 hp or 585 hp.

The most significant mechanical upgrade comes in the form of the 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox, which replaces the earlier 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 9-speed transmission is available on the CLS 220, CLS 250, CLS 350 and CLS 500.

Mercedes would host the dynamic debut of the refreshed CLS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place later this month from 26-29 June. In India, we expect to see the CLS facelift launch sometime next year as it is an important member in the Mercedes 'Dream Car' portfolio.
