Honda Brazil have planned the launch of the new Honda City in September. In the months leading up to the release, test mules of the new Jazz-based sedan have been spotted on road trials quite regularly in the Sao Paulo area.
The latest spyshot comes from Mr. Gustavo, a reader of the popular Brazilian news site Novidades Automotivas.
The new City’s length is the same as the previous gen model at 4,440 mm, while wheelbase is extended by 50 mm to 2,600 mm. The width is retained, however the shoulder room and the headroom are up by 40 mm and 10 mm respectively. The rigidity of the chassis has been upped by 24%.
The City is sold in 55 markets currently and the introduction of the new generation would see it go to 60 markets eventually (currently sold in India, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Nepal). For Brazil, major changes would be carried out on the powertrain for it to fire ethanol-rich fuel. The 1.5L 16v engine would be tuned to make 116 hp, according to Novidades' report. Besides a manual gearbox, the car would also be offered with the seven-speed stepped CVT.
The Brazilian City will be made at Honda's plant in Sumare, not very far from where this mule was photographed.
