IAB Report - 2014 Toyota Corolla launching next week

The 2014 Toyota Corolla will launch in India next week, the company confirmed to IndianAutosBlog.com today via email. The 11th generation of the popular sedan was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, where bookings for the car also began. So far, the company has bagged 1,300 bookings, with an equal split of petrol and diesel variants.

The 2014 Corolla will be available with a petrol and a diesel engine in India. The petrol engine in question is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder motor with Dual VVT-i technology. It produces 140 PS at 6,400 rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed stepped CVT.

The diesel Corolla is powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 88.4 PS at 3,800 rpm, matched to a 6-speed manual transmission. The new Corolla measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,776 mm in width, 1,475 mm in height and 2,700 mm in wheelbase.

The Corolla will come in five petrol and four diesel variants. Top-end variants of the new Corolla get features such as LED headlights, LED taillights, rear reclining seats, a 7.1-inch infotainment system with integrated navigation, push button start, reverse camera with parking sensors, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather seats and automatic wipers.

The Corolla brand was introduced in India in 2003, and since, Toyota has sold over 88,000 units of the sedan in the country. Apart from launching the new Corolla, Toyota has also introduced the Etios Cross in India this year.
